Palazzo Butera (Palazzo Branciforte)
Sicily
Piazzas & Palazzos
On display are archaeological, majolica, philatelic and numismatic collections, sculptures, and historical library with 50.000 volumes.
The Palazzo Butera dates from the mid seventeenth century. It was destroyed in 1759. The façade of today was standardized in the nineteenth century. The huge terrace overlooking the gulf of Palermo is an extremely original feature because of a stretch that moves away from the front and runs parallel to it with a distance of about ten metres. The proportions of the rooms are of great formal balance and of rare beauty. Inside are several lounges decorated with marble frames or stucco decorations.
The foundation offer workshops for children and adults.
