Villages & Towns
Milazzo is a seaside town with a lively fishing marina, a rambling old castle and plenty of fantastic places nearby out on Capo Milazzo.
If you have a few hours until your ferry sails consider walking from the port up to the old town. Here you'll find a handful of churches, stone arches and quaint streets. The castle at the top of the town was constructed in the 13th century and is relatively intact. Near the castle you'll find the Dominican Chiesa del Rosario that dates back to 1538 and was once seat of the Inquisition. This part of the old town is particularly lovely and a great place to dine.
The other place to visit in Milazzo is the old maritime quarter known as Vaccarella.
The lungomare has a number of bars and restaurants - handy if you need a bite before or after sailing to the Aeolian Islands. There are also some good eating places by San Gaetano's church, and a great restaurant out at Capo Milazzo - a wonderful place for an evening meal.
