The vineyards of Avide of about 70 hectares are right at the centre of the heart of D.O.C.G. Cerasuolo di Vittoria where always excellent red wines were produced.
While Sicilian oenology was just starting to take off, the Avide winery drew attention to itself thanks to its entrepreneurial skills, initiative and technical know-how consolidated by family tradition. The notary Giovanni Demostene, his sister Maria Stella and her husband Giuseppe Calcaterra were the co-founder of the vinery following the ancients traditions. The three sons of the latter represent the new generation. Marco, graduated in agronomy, is the Managing Director of Avide and works closely with the historical oenologist of this winery, who, since more than 20 years, perfects the Avide production. All family members are always there to support. Striking is that the team is composed of experts who are in the company business for years.
