Regional & Local Sicilian Cuisine
The charming restaurant Cucina Papoff is located close to Piazza Politeama (do ring the bell) and might not look very inviting from outside, but it is the inside that counts (and the cuisine obviously). Think high stone ceilings crowning sweeping arches with wooden beamed ceilings and stone walls with a lick of light orange painting and period art work.
Cucina Papoff serves traditional Sicilian dishes accompanied by a large wine list, from which we would recommend the rich Nero 'Avola. Maccu (creamy soup made of dried Fava beans and cooked with wild fennel), antipasto misto with 7 different samples or swordfish chunks served with lemon and caper sauce are strongly recommended for a starter, where Linguini with red mullet or gnocchi with gorgonzola and pistachio will leave you satisfied as a main meal. Our personnal recommendation would be the octopus salad with raw artichokes, potatoes, and fennel - simply divine.
